A man on a gin school experience

If you’re visiting South Devon, why not plan a day trip around a gin school experience with us! Make the most of your experience by getting the train to Totnes so that you can leave the car behind and enjoy all the gin or rum on offer while you craft a bottle of your own on one of our mini copper pot stills!

Depending on when you arrive in Totnes you’ll find loads of great independent coffee shops to relax and refresh in while enjoying a drink and bite to eat ahead of your gin school experience – best to line the stomach! Check out The Hairy Barista or The Almond Thief or The Curator for your caffeine fix.

It’s about a 25 minute walk along the National Cycle Network path to The Cider Press Centre in Dartington where you’ll find the Devon Gin School (don’t worry – it’s flat and very scenic!) but you could always get a 5 minute taxi instead.

Your Devon Gin School experience begins at 12.30pm and is a 2 hour dive into the world of gin, culminating in you distilling your own unique bottle of gin to take away, having chosen all the botanicals and carefully balanced their flavours.

After bottling and adding your personalised label to your unique spirit you’ll probably be feeling a bit peckish! Just a 5 minute walk up the road is The Cott, a 14th Century thatched roof pub which serves incredible food and a wide selection of drinks (including Devon Distillery products!)

After a hearty meal it’s time to walk back along the river to Totnes (or a quick taxi ride!) where you can catch the train home, or enjoy some more drinks in some of the great bars and pubs available in Totnes – or just wander around and soak up the unique atmosphere of this quirky town before heading home with your new bottle of fantastic gin and some great memories of your day in South Devon.
